Brush Study #4 in progress

Like many artists, Judy feels that there is much to be learned by exploring one subject through a series of paintings.  These are small and fairly rapid studies using  what was easily at hand for subject matter.

Brush study #4 was undertaken with a camera positioned over her easel, and a short time lapse movie was made as this painting evolved.

She carried the ‘finishing’ of this image somewhat further than she would have  done for a simple study.

Prints are available of this work.

Judy began with a particular enjoyment of pencil work.  The portfolio of her past pencil work is too large to display, however; those originals have been sold and very few were reproduced.  This is a sampling.

Jammin’                   (6” x 8”, oil, colour study on canvas)

Much can be said about the joy of getting outside to paint, especially here at Pinecroft while enjoying the Jammers improvise their music.  A glorious September afternoon ‘grabbing the light’.

(more about  this, and the Jammers, on the Nov/09 blog entry)
